The Mighty Fitz 5K

The Legend Lives On!

Please join us on Saturday November 9, 2024 for the 10th Annual Mighty Fitz 5K in Lewiston, New York to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the sinking of the Great Lakes freighter. Net proceeds from the event to benefit the Lewiston Council on the Arts and the great work they do for our community!

It was 49 years ago on November 10, 1975 when the Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared in the waters of Lake Superior during a severe storm, taking 29 lives with it. After almost 50 years, the story of the ship continues to intrigue, with some saying its legend is second only to the Titanic.

START/FINISH
The race will start at 2pm in front of the Brickyard Pub & Restaurant. Due to construction at Artpark State Park, we had to make some changes to the course for 2023 (VIEW MAP). Runners enjoyed the new route so much that we are planning to have the new course USATF certified. Don't worry, we kept the big hill at the end of the race! There will be one water station located at the top of Artpark Hill and bottled water will be provided to runners at the finish line.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until the start of the race. Packet pickup will take place at the Brickyard Brewing Company from 12:00pm right up until the start of the race at 2:00pm. Please register by Friday 11/1/24 at 9am to be guaranteed an official Mighty Fitz 5K t-shirt. A small quantity of extra shirts will be ordered and distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone. After that we will provide late participants with a retro shirt or gift of our choice.

Registration Fee: $35 through race day

If you prefer to mail in your registration, please download both the race waiver and appropriate USATF liability waiver below and mail to the address shown. You must complete and mail BOTH waivers to the address shown on the waiver along with your check payable to iRunWNY.

POST RACE CELEBRATION

All participants are invited to celebrate after the race at the Brickyard Brewing Company after the race where they will enjoy delicious Brickyard food (TBD), music and the awards ceremony! We are also excited to announce that BBC is planning to produce a batch of their Gitchegumee beer especially for this event! Stay tuned for more details as it will be unveiled about a week before the race!

PARKING
There will be plenty of free parking in the Village of Lewiston near the start/finish line.

AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Hand crafted trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female finishers and all participants will be able to download custom finisher certificates from the event page and view/share finish line photos following the race! Age Groups gifts for the top three male and female runners in each of the following age groups...

14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
There will be no refunds. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion, or offer a virtual alternative if necessary.

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Timing services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
